Dr. Emily Salzer

Dr. Salzer grew up in Waterford, Connecticut. She completed her undergraduate degree at Indiana University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology as well as minors in Chemistry and Animal Behavior. Her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine was completed at Iowa State University in 2016. While Dr. Salzer attended veterinary school, she pursued an interest in small animal orthopedic surgery. Her research resulted in a published work entitled, Small Animal Fracture Repair: A Case-Based Approach.

Following veterinary school Dr. Salzer completed a rotating internship at WestVet Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in Boise, Idaho. This is where she became interested in emergency/critical care and internal medicine. Dr. Salzer then moved back east to Memphis, Tennessee where she worked as a full-time emergency veterinarian at Memphis Veterinary Specialists/PetMed Emergency Center.

In order to get closer to family, Dr. Salzer moved to North Carolina in 2018. She has worked as both a relief emergency veterinarian as well as a family veterinarian since moving to this beautiful area. Dr. Salzer joins the Mills Creek practice in September 2019 as a part-time veterinarian. She has a loving fiancé, soon to be husband, and five amazing dogs; Cookie, Ziva, Cash, Meeko, and Bandit. In her free time she enjoys sports, spending time in the great outdoors, and relaxing with friends and family.
