Meet the Team

  • Karen
    Practice Manager/ Veterinarian Technician

    Karen was born in California and moved to North Carolina in 1996. She graduated with a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Elon University in 2009. She began volunteering at a local animal hospital while working as a Quality Control Chemist in 2011. It didn’t take long for her to determine her passion lied in Veterinary Medicine and in 2014, she graduated from CCCC with a degree in Veterinary Technology. After her graduation, she and her husband, Daniel, lived in Athens, Georgia where she worked as a Registered Veterinary Technician/Shift Lead at a nearby small animal veterinary hospital, while volunteering at the Athens Area Humane Society. Passionate about client education and providing low stress animal vet visits, Karen became Fear Free Certified in 2019. She currently lives in Huntersville with her husband and their two cats, Felicity and Sophie. During her free time, she enjoys gardening, traveling, listening/performing music, and spending time with her family.

  • Kim
    Hospital Administration

    Kim Heisel has enjoyed a very diverse veterinary career with experience in general, specialty/referral, and emergency practices as both a technician and practice manager. She has also worked as an animal health pharmaceutical representative. An active veterinary practice consultant and a provider of CE presentations for veterinarians and support staff, Kim also owns and operates a practice consultancy group in addition to her role as VMI’s Chief Hospital Administrator.

    Kim attended school at St. Petersburg College in Florida where she earned her Bachelor’s in veterinary technology and hospital management. Kim is a registered veterinary technician, a certified veterinary practice manager, and is Fear Free certified. She is an active member of VSPN (as a board moderator), NCAVT (as education coordinator), VHMA, and NAVTA.

    She proudly resides in Charlotte, NC with her husband, their two sons, and a houseful of fur. When she is not busy in veterinary medicine, she is active with her family, loves traveling and the outdoors, enjoys photography, and is an avid Carolina Panthers fan.

  • Brooke
    Client Service Representative

    Brooke has been with us since the doors opened in 2019. She will most likely be the voice you here when you call and will remember your name, your pet's name and what you were here for the last time you were in. She just moved here from Olrando, Florida where she was born and raised came to North Carolina to be closer to her family she loves and spends her time with. Brooke spends her free time with her loved ones and her dog Snuggles her furry friend she loves so much!

  • Amanda
    Client Service Representative

    Amanda joined our team when we opened in September, she is new to field but has always had a passion for animals. She’s friendly, caring, and enjoys interacting with animals. Amanda loves coming to work to learn how to help animals receive the best care possible. In her free time she enjoys reading, shopping, cooking, and spending with her family and 3 pets (Olive, Finn, and Tiger).  

  • Liz
    Veterinary Assistant/Client Service Representative

    Born in New York and raised in Cabarrus County, Liz joined our team when we opened in September 2019. They previously worked in retail, but Liz decided to pursue a career as a veterinary assistant and CSR (client service representative) in order to fulfill a passion for working with and helping animals. Liz is an extremely hard-working member of our team, Fear-Free Certified, and eager to continue to learn in order to best help our clients and patients.  In their spare time, Liz enjoys reading, playing video games, and hanging out with their four quirky cats (Barry, Harley, Diana, and Gus).
